Fishtrap Lake is home to rainbow trout ranging in size from small fry plant from the Washington Fisheries Department to native rainbows up to 26 inches. For sport fisherman of any type this lake is a great place to catch a limit in a few hours and have a ton of fun battling the hard fighting rainbows.
The long time residents have a lot of theories on when the best time to catch the bigger rainbows is. Some say morning, some prefer evening. Others think a cloudy day is best, and then there are the fair weather fishermen as well. Although the debate may never be agreed upon by our residents and anglers, we tend to agree with the founder of Fishtrap, James Scroggie. He used to say, “Folks, you can’t catch fish if your line is not in the water.”
